Blessed, But Not Blessed – Day 2

Do not be misled: "Bad company ruins good character." Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God.”

1 Corinthians 15:33-34

Pop quiz: If we hang out with negative people, can we expect a positive life? Paul warns that who we hang with, run with and keep company with determines how blessed we are, how happy we are and how successful we'll be.

If we want to live the blessed life, we want to learn to be discerning, and be careful who we hang with. Bad company -- or bad influences -- can lead to bad choices that leads us directly into sin. We want to take care on where we're walking, standing and sitting. First we are walking near the sin; then we are standing in the sin; and before we know it, we're sitting and partaking in it. Sin is painfully deceptive! Day 1 entices: It always looks good and feels great, roping us in. But sin always hides its cost: It promises more than it can deliver, costs more than we want to pay and keeps us longer than we want to stay. Before we know it, we find ourselves unhappy.
