Don't Look Back – Day 1

Then he said to his disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. People will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them.

Luke 17:22-23

Jesus taught about a two-fold nature of God's kingdom. First was what had been realized: when he came, God's kingdom had arrived! His presence fulfilled old testament promises! The second part would be fulfilled in the future: God's kingdom would reign when Jesus returned. We don't know his timing, but we know we're currently living between two advents, or arrivals, of Christ.

Jesus told us not to chase the timing of his return. So, are we to long and wait in this "meantime?" No, we have work to do on this earth! We're sent to prepare generations. We may feel exposed in what looks dark today -- war, sickness, death. But we weren't created to lose hours on social media or in front of a television. Since we don't know the time, we want to live each day as though it were our last. If we thought we only had hours left on this earth, we'd make those hours count!

God is not surprised by what's taking place today. If you're longing for some past season, know that he's prepared a future of purpose and destiny for you! And for what he wants to accomplish through you! What is God calling you to that you have yet to step into? Take the step! Say yes to what he has for you because he sent you to be salt and light on this earth for this hour!
