"Even Though" Faith – Day 3

By faith, Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Hebrews 11:8

Even though he did not know where he was going, God called Abraham to move forward, to leave everything behind and to go to a land he would should him. Imagine: no maps, no GPS and no old-school Thomas guide -- just a "go." God provided zero details except to "start walking and start lightening your load," instructing Abraham to leave everything behind. Although it was way outside his comfort zone, Abraham went.

Each of us has comfort zones or barriers that make us feel cozy and secure. We like to be comfortable and have a sense of safety. There’s nothing wrong with comfort, but is it always best for us? There's more in life to experience. When we step outside our safe boundaries, we leave behind our perfect box and begin to push and test the limits outside of it. When God presents us with a need to leave our safety zone, we get scared, question and make excuses: What if it doesn’t work? What if it backfires? What if I lose everything? What if it fails? An "even though" faith calls us out of our comfort zones. God didn’t create us to just be comfortable. He called us to live for something bigger.

Is God calling you to step out? Maybe he's not giving you all the details, but he is telling you to move forward anyway. He has something new for you and is asking you, "Will you trust me?" Are you asking God for a map? Are you requesting more details? Or will you have an "even though" faith to step outside your comfort zone, and go? He may be asking you to make changes, break ties and/or simplify. Ask him to show you what he wants for your life. Ask God to open your eyes to new opportunities to stretch your faith. Ask for the courage and strength to leave your comfort zone and follow him wholeheartedly. You may be surprised where he takes you!
