The Joy of Serving – Day 4

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

1 John 5:3

Obedience to God's commands is a necessary expression of love. To be great before God is to serve him and others humbly in our daily lives. It’s one thing to be aware of how to serve, but are we being obedient to follow through?

Life can get crazy, and serving may not feel convenient. We have so much going on -- work, school, family, friends, relationships and more. We can get so overwhelmed we don't make the time to serve. But obedience allows us to experience joy and peace. As we move out of our comfort zones, and start serving God, he reveals new potential in ourselves.

Where has God been calling you to serve? What obstacles, fears or doubts are keeping you from being obedient? Serving and being obedient are forms of worship. You can express gratitude for what Jesus has done for you and demonstrate the love and grace you've been given. If you’re unsure on where to serve, just start somewhere. Experience the joy of God working through you!
