Thirst No More – Day 1

When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” ... His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

John 2:3, 5

In the middle of a week-long wedding celebration, the host family ran out of resources, which would have caused them great embarrassment. Mary went to Jesus for help, but she didn't tell him how to resolve the situation. Instead, she trusted him, instructing the servants to "do whatever he tells you."

How often do we tell Jesus our problems and exactly what to do about them? The problem was they'd run out of wine and resources. The cause may have been too many guests, too low a budget or that the wedding celebration lasted a full week. But Mary didn't address the causes or come up with a five-point plan on how Jesus should fix it. Instead, she trusted him -- not his promise, but his character.

Do you trust Jesus' character? Do you trust he knows the best way to handle your problem? Or do you tell him exactly how to fix it? Whatever you're dealing with today, go to him, and put your trust in him to bring about the best resolution. Then, ask yourself the ultimate test of trust: Am I willing to do whatever he says? Sometimes, your miracle is on the other side of your obedience.
