Work Your Word – Day 1

GOD'S PLAN // AUGUST 8, 2022

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11

Do you think when Jesus called his disciples to follow him, they were ready for all they'd see and experience? We all have plans for our lives. It may be a dream that has not been yet been fulfilled. It may be goals we want to meet within a certain amount of time. There's nothing wrong with making plans for our future or fulfilling our dreams. But there's a difference between our plans and God's plans. If we're not careful, we can start operating on our own plans. We may have wondered, "How did I get here? Things are not going according to plan!" This is the moment we have to ask ourselves: Are operating in our plans or God's?

Jesus moved on purpose. There was always a plan. You might be wondering: How did I get here in my career, my relationship or my finances? Sometimes, we make plans without considering God at all. But other times, we think our plans make sense with what we think God wants to do with our lives. But, if we haven’t consulted with God about our plans, chances are he has something bigger and better in mind for us. How often do we pray for something we may not be preparing for? If we're not ready, the blessing just might break us. God may steer our plans elsewhere, but his plans and purposes are always greater.

Are you continually submitting your plans to God? If so, he’ll turn them into greater blessings than you could ever hope for or imagine. What is one idea you have that you need to turn over to God? Will you submit your plans to him today? Remember, you may make your plans, but it's the Lord's purpose that prevails.
